I originally started this blog on MySpace a while ago, but realized that it doesn't get nearly the traffic I'd hoped. So, I'm moving all of it to Blogspot, and we'll see how it does. I'll include original dates in the text of the old posts.
I'm a poker player trying to improve his game. I've played for a few years and tracked my results, and I'm a consistent winner at small stakes. I'd like to move up and begin playing at casino limits, as I'm mostly a home-game player playing $10-$50 buy-in games. Ideally, this blog will allow me to discuss the game with other people and get some insight on better play.

What is a railbird?
Here are how some poker authors have defined it:
Railbird: chattering spectator (from Positively Fifth Street by Jim McManus)
Railbird: a non-playing spectator or kibitzer, often used of a broke ex-player. (from Big Deal by Tony Holden)
Rail: The place from which spectators and losers watch the action. "When Brad made his flush at the river to beat my set of aces, I was forced to join the other losers on the rail." (from No Limit Texas Hold'em by Brad Dougherty & Tom McEvoy)
